ATTENTION OT AND OTA STUDENTS AND RECENT GRADUATES!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some individuals have had limited or delayed access to the examinations required for licensure. The California Department of Consumer Affairs Director issued a waiver to give more time for qualified individuals to apply for and take the examinations required for licensure and to obtain a Limited Permit issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.

A Limited Permit allows qualified individuals to provide occupational therapy services (work!) before they take and pass their exam and obtain their initial license. For individuals who complete the education and fieldwork requirements for licensure between June 2, 2020 and November 30, 2020, the waiver extends the time limits for eligible applicants by two months (up to six months). For individuals issued a Limited Permit between June 2, 2020, and November 30, 2020, the validity of their permit has been extended by three months (up to six months).
